Douju Kasahara
I have been familiar with music such as the piano since childhood, and started playing the shakuhachi at the age of 12.
Studied under Dozan Fujiwara from the age of 15.
Graduated from Tokyo University of the Arts, Faculty of Music, majoring in Shakuhachi.
Also, while attending university, I studied under Living National Treasure Hozan Nomura and Reibo Aoki III. Completed the Graduate School of Music at the same university.
Received the Excellence Award in the Japanese Music Division at the 35th Ichikawa City New Performer Competition.
Became the associate master of the Tozan-ryu Shakuhachi Gakkai.
Appeared on Nippon's Entertainment (NHKE TV) and Untitled Concert (TV Asahi).
Member of the shakuhachi ensemble "Fugachikuin'' led by Dozan Fujiwara.
Member of the Japanese dance, koto, shakuhachi, and nagauta performance group "Toranoo-kai."
A member of the koto and shakuhachi workshop group "Tsurukorin."
In addition to traditional Japanese performing arts and classical works, I am also active in ensembles with Western instruments, such as the duo "SHAKUHARP'' with harp and the trio "REBUNG'' with piano and percussion, expanding the range of my activities.
I have also composed shakuhachi ensemble pieces, koto-shakuhachi duets, and many other original pieces.
